A Chance to Win Begins with a Scan!
The Texas Lottery® is committed to supporting responsible gambling, so players need to verify they are at least 18 years of age to use the self-service lottery vending machines.
Must be 18 or Older
Verify Age
- Scan long barcode on back of driver’s license or ID.
- Use the same scanner for checking lottery tickets. Hold ID horizontally underneath the scanner, barcode facing up.
- Move ID around until a beep confirms the barcode was read.
- Difficulty scanning? Cover the smaller UPC barcode and try moving ID closer and farther away from scanner.
No data from the ID is collected or stored. Scanning an ID is for age verification only.
Why Won’t Your ID Scan?
- Damaged/scratched barcodes
- Expired driver’s license
- Older versions of Texas IDs and some out-of-state IDs may not have the required PDF417 barcode administered by the American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators (AAMVA).
- Some other forms of identification may not scan or be able to verify age.
- Ask retailer for assistance or purchase games at the counter if the ID will not scan.
Insert Cash & Play
- When prompted, insert the exact dollar amount to play. Vending machines DO NOT GIVE CHANGE.
- U.S. bills accepted: $1, $5, $10, $20, $50 and $100.
- To play draw games: select Quick Pick buttons, scan a QR code generated from the Texas Lottery® App or insert a completed playslip (Gemini only).
- Press game buttons to select scratch tickets.
- Take your ticket(s).
Did You Win?
- Use the barcode scanner to check winning status of tickets.
- Prizes cannot be redeemed at the machines. For validation and prize payment, present ticket(s) to a retailer, a Texas Lottery claim center or use the Texas Lottery® App if prize is $600-$5,000.
